NY has all sorts of now banned "assault" type weapons and I was wondering if anyone knew if this fell into that category? Do they consider the stock a pistol grip or a thumb hole or some other banned characteristic?

https://www.nraila.org/gun-laws/state-gun-laws/new-york/ check out this link. The CX4 is a rifle, and has pistol grip so is considered an "assault weapon" in communist states. The thumb hole makes it illegal due to being able to wrap thumb around grip. Gun laws are hard to understand because they have no common sense to them.

From what I understand it has the same characteristics as an AR-15 platform rifle.

according to the ny "un"safe act, a rifle is considered to be an assault weapon if it has a detachable magazine and any other of a number of features. the loophole in this is that the way it is worded in the law, if the detachable magazine is held within the pistol grip then it is not considered as such which makes the rifle legal.
