Hi Raymond and welcome. The barrel is stamped .223REM so 5.56 should not be used for safety and warranty reasons. Sights are removable. Cheers and stay safe!
Hi Raymond, This does fire both 5.56 and .223. From the CZ web site FAQ page - Q: "Can CZ rifles chambered in .223 fire 5.56 ammunition safely?" A: FOR US BASED CUSTOMERS- All of our .223s will happily eat 5.56. Since our factory is in Europe, we build everything to CIP spec, which doesn't differentiate between the two cartridges and just has the higher pressure as its standard. So the CZ .223s will shoot everything from the cheapest Russian steel to match .223 brass ammo. Read it here >>> https://cz-usa.com/support/faq/ CZ does not state if the sights are removable, they just say "Rear adj. iron sights with FO front, Drilled and tepped for Remington 700 bases". -- I would contact CZ-USA for an accurate answer at 1-800-955-4486 Stay safe & have a great day!
