Torn between this shield and the XDS. Hear great things about both and just cannot come to choose one or the other. For those that own both or have experience with both, which do you prefer and why.

I prefer the shield both are good guns I suggest that you go to a local FFL where you can handle both and choose the on that feels best If they have rentals that you can try that's even better

I would personally choose the XDS but that's just my cup of tea. The "Essentials Package" tips the scale in the XDS's favor for me. As has been stated by Randy, it may take actual handling of the two to make the decision since they are so close in every aspect. Some local gun stores with ranges do rent these popular pistols for a try out. Trust me when I say your body will instinctively know which is your best choice.

I actually prefer the ruger SR series over both I carry a SR-9c and a SR-40c when not carrying my 1911 officers
