How is the light gathering with this optic? As i normally am presented with shots in the early dawn/dusk and have to pass on shots because my view through my current optic is to dark when i am still able to see clearly with my naked eye

Hi Jeffrey and welcome. The Leupold VX-Freedom has excellent light gathering due to the clear edge to edge glass. Larger objective lens will yield more light of course but, this would be adequate. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
