I received my Blackhawk fast. Beautiful gun. Replaced the tiny grips for a Hogue grip. What a difference it makes! It the accurracy department, ok, firing ok no missfires. Finish impeccable. Now the BAD part. When cocking the hammer the transfer bar just hangs on to the firing pin. Fire one or two and jams. I found in the internet it is due to a faulty cilynder base pin; they move and and cause this. I might try a Power Custom's Keith Base Pin Q1-01, to see if it hopefully solves the issue. Sending to factory warranty is a big issue, too expensive, shipping, FFL charges etc. So be aware, is a nice gun, but it seems that flaw is not corrected yet.... I will update when tested again.

I love this gun!!! So scary accurate and almost no kick. Sights are so fast and intuitive. Finish is beautiful and action is slick. Handle fits me perfectly, but I have small hands. I actually use this as a daily concealed carry. It is quite comfortable in a nylon, vertical, shoulder holster. This replaced a Vaquero that I really liked. I am so much happier with this. Truly a lot of pistol for the money.

Weapon is great very accurate, as expected, and can handle the +p loads to bring this cartridge into the 21st century. I am getting a little larger wooden grips to replace the black plastic ones that came with it, this is more for looks than function as I was able to control the weapon while shooting some of Underwoods hottest. Weapon arrived in great condition. Dealing with Buds is easy.

Love this Blackhawk, not my first, but great addition to my Ruger's. I reload, and this Ruger 45LC is one of two brands that can handle some pretty warm reloads. 45LC in this Ruger Blackhawk is fun to shoot, and also packs a wallop from this grand old cartridge. Only problem I have found is the front sight appears to be canted a bit clockwise, not aligned with the bore causing bullet impact to be right of center even with the rear sight adjusted left to the max. I will follow up with Ruger on this issue.

Spencer, you can probably buy an extra cylinder separately but I would be concerned about installing it and getting the cylinder timing perfect. Ruger sells convertible models that come with the other cylinder from the factory though and timing wouldn't be an issue, here's the same configuration with the other cylinder included - only about $59 more: https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/49733/ruger+45c+7+1%2f2%22

yes the are fine to expand on the Blackhawk strength here is a part of a article "High pressure handloads for the Blackhawk and Contender pistols
Some (not all) of the major reloading manuals list two categories of .45 Colt loads. The first category contains loads within the 14,000 psi (or 15,900 cup) SAAMI maximum pressure limit. These loads are safe in all modern .45 Long Colt revolvers in good operating condition. The second .45 Colt section contains loads intended for use only in the Ruger Blackhawk revolver and T/C Contender single shot pistol. The Hornady, Sierra, and Speer reloading manuals have published the latter category of .45 Colt loads longer than most.
The reloading manuals that list these restricted loads are pretty coy about the actual pressures involved in such loads. The Hornady Handbook, 3rd Edition, says only that the pressures of their loads for the Ruger and T/C "are slightly higher than the earlier Colt revolvers or their replicas can withstand." These loads take the 250 grain Hornady JHP bullet to maximum muzzle velocities of 1300-1350 fps, depending on the kind of powder used. These velocities were measured in a 10" Contender barrel." http://www.chuckhawks.com/high-pressure45.htm
