Buffalo Bore .327 Federal Mag handgun ammunition uses a 100-grain jacketed hollow point bullet designed for controlled expansion and effective terminal performance. This full-power load uses flash-suppressed powder to help reduce muzzle flash in low-light conditions. It is intended for all-steel revolvers and standard pistols chambered for .327 Federal Mag. Buffalo Bore does not recommend it for super-light alloy revolvers because severe recoil can cause bullet crimp jump.

Shooting from my Ruger...
Shooting from my Ruger LCR (1 7/8") was very manageable and surprisingly accurate. Penetration and expansion for self defense ammunition however, was somewhat disappointing. The bullet was fired from 10 /- feet through 2 layers of denim and 4 water jugs. The bullet bounced off the backstop and was recovered between the 4th jug and the backstop. Total penetration was 24 " and expansion was measured at .45" (less than 45%). Although not scientific, this test give me a pretty good idea of how this ammunition will perform in a short barrel revolver for self defense. Longer barrel revolvers will no doubt bring better "defense" results.
