DoubleTap Defense .44 Special ammunition uses a 240-grain Keith-style hardcast lead semi-wadcutter for dependable performance in target shooting, hunting, and woods carry applications. This standard-pressure load is suitable for .44 Special revolvers that are in good working condition. From a 6.5-inch barrel, it produces a muzzle velocity of 920 feet / second and 451 foot-pounds of energy. DoubleTap also reports 800 feet / second from a 2.5-inch Ruger Alaskan barrel.

21 Brinell Hardness,...

21 Brinell Hardness, that's what the box says. It's a standard-pressure load that will do 800-something fps. It is TOO HARD! I am shocked -- SHOCKED -- by how much leading the ammo has caused. Just 12 rounds was enough to totally screw up the barrel. Now I have learned the hard way what the reloading experts say: DO NOT use hard-cast lead at 38 spl/44 spl standard velocity! DoubleTap, that 's where I outsourced the expertise to, and as they says these days, DoubleTap was a TOTAL FAIL! How could these people produce a load like this?
