A: 147 has a bit more recoil but not very noticeable. 124 grain it's kind of in between the 115 grain and 147 which is a pretty good medium. The 147 has a bit more stopping power because it's heavier but it's also slower that's just my two cents.

A: no they are not loaded with the same powder charge and while the 147 grain will be slower and drop more it retains down range power and penetration as a extreme example think about a softball and a bowling ball the softball can be thrown faster but when the bowling ball hits you will will most likely do more damage

A: Hi Simon, you would choose 147 grain if you wanted more stopping power, which would usually be up close. For target practice you may want to use 115 grain. They are not loaded with the same powder. Stay safe & have a great day!

A: Hi Simon and welcome. The heavier bullet uses the same amount of powder. It is just slower due to the weight of the bullet compared to the 115gr bullet. However, the lighter bullet sheds velocity much faster than the heavier bullet and therefore energy as well. The lighter bullet will generally have more velocity/energy close up (self-defense range) and the heavier bullet ends up with more velocity/energy farther out. Heavier bullets tend to penetrate deeper, even hollow points. I use 124gr ammunition which is a good compromise of both bullet weights. Hope this makes sense. Cheers, stay safe and enjoy!
