Federal Premium Grand Slam Turkey shotshell ammo is built to extend range and improve pattern consistency for hunting gobblers. This 12 Gauge 3in load uses Federal’s FLITECONTROL FLEX wad system to work in both standard and ported turkey chokes, providing a controlled rear-to-front release for dense, even patterns. Copper-plated lead pellets are cushioned with a buffering compound to help deliver strong downrange performance on turkeys.

Went to the range and...
Went to the range and shot both 3.5" and 3" shells of the Federal Premium Grand Slam Lead Shot #4,12 Gauge Ammo. At 40 yards I found that the 3" shells gave the best results in my shotgun/IM choke tube set up. The 3" #4 shot had 7 pellets hit the neck vertebrae and 2 pellets hit the brain. The 3.5" shells had 3 pellets hit the neck vertebrae only. I used an Improved Modified rather than Extra Full Turkey Choke Tube at 40 yards because I got poor results with the more constricted choke tubes.Because of my eyesight I limit myself to shooting no further than 40 yards.
