I have owned Mossberg,...
I have owned Mossberg, Remington, Browning, and Benelli pump shotguns. Each is unique. Though the Benelli looks a bit odd in its appearance, I can assure you that it is one of the toughest shotguns made. I love the magazine cut-off function, and the ability to tighten the forearm side-screws to reduce the "rattle" that some pump shotguns often have. This feature makes it much quieter when turkey hunting. The controls are in the right place for me, and the trigger, though having a small degree of "take up", is perfect. I mostly shoot 3" shells, but this gun does a wonderful job of ejecting 2-3/4 in. dove loads, a problem sometimes found in other pumps. Breakdown is straightforward, though nothing is as easy as the Remington 870. I wish that Benelli made a 3" Nova, but the 3-1/2 in chamber has caused no problems with ejecting 2-3/4 in. shells, as I mentioned earlier. I love the stepped rib for quick sight acquisition, and the mid bead is great for turkey hunting. All of the guns aforementioned will serve you well. Buy the one that fits you the best. I am kind of biased toward the Benelli because I own Beretta shotguns, Beretta pistols, Tikka rifles, and a SAKO rifle. Beretta owns Benelli, Franchi, SAKO, Stoeger, TIkka, Uberti, and Burris Optics. Like I said, buy what fits you best, but be confident in the Nova. It is a lifetime shotgun for a small investment.
