Product Overview
The Interstate Arms 97W is a Norinco-made cowboy-style pump-action shotgun chambered in 12 Gauge. Its exposed-hammer configuration and classic lines recreate the well-known Winchester 1897 pattern while modern manufacturing provides a durable platform for hunting, field use, and shooting sports. The 20-inch barrel uses a front bead sight and a Modified choke for a versatile field pattern. A five-round tubular magazine, matte black steel receiver, American walnut stock, and black rubber recoil pad complete the traditional configuration. The shotgun accepts 2 3/4-inch shotshells and includes a metal handguard and lug.

Now anyone who's seen...
Now anyone who's seen the Wild Bunch can't be without one. The shotgun is made in China, but does a great job replicating it. The shotgun handles 2 3/4 shells like a dream. If you can't have an original, this is an excellent replacement.

I purchased this...
I purchased this shotgun for use in SASS Cowboy Action Shooting matches, as well as for SASS Wild Bunch matches. I've been using an older model IAC 97 for over 7 years, and have not had any problems with it while shooting matches. We tend to run our shotguns pretty hard at matches (especially at Wild Bunch matches), and these 97's can take the abuse quite well. I had read that IAC was planning on stopping the import of these shotguns, as well as the 97 Trench Gun. Because of this, I figured now was the time to pick up a second one of these shotguns, while I still had the opportunity to do so. My new 97 is an 09 series 97, while my older one was a 01 series. The walnut stocks on this one are very nicely done, and the metal blueing is excellent as well. I particularly like the large front sight bead on the shotgun, as my older one has the smaller front sight bead. The service from Bud's was excellent, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them again in the future.

The over all look and...
The over all look and finish on this shotgun is pretty good. When shooting at the range I did experience one failure to feed. The shell failed to eject from the magazine tube and never reached the chamber. With that trigger pull there was no boom! 90% of the time it does feed well and doesn't jam, but when it does jam it usually results in attempting to chamber and shell, and another shell released from the magazine tube as well. This shotgun put down some pretty good patterns with 0, 00, and 000 buck shot. At 12-15 yards it was able to keep it in a tight pattern. I used Remingtion shells. It seems to like these best. **Do not try to use Centurion Multi Defense shells with this shotgun** These are the defense shells with the large ball, and 6 0 buckshot, this shotgun WILL NOT feed these rounds, every time it would jam. Overall I am happy with this purchase. It has some rough edges, and isn't the best on the market, but to get that "old" time look, it does pretty good.
