When I first got my...
When I first got my shotgun right before covid 2020 I told myself I would never upgrade to a magpul forend simply because that's what everyone else did. Then I saw the buds sale price and figured I'd give it a try. I'd only be out a couple of bucks if I didn't like it.\\r\ \\r\ I'm a sucker for packaging. Product arrived well packaged in a well designed box that I know use to store loose 22lr. First thing I pulled out was the forend removal tool which pretty much pays for the overall price of the forend itself. Once I slid the forend on to the slide action I knew it was a keeper mainly because the notorious mossberg forend rattle was diminished by 50%. Night and day difference. Note: that the rattle is by design From mossberg to ensure the slide action still functions in conditions that would allow dirt and debris to compromise operation.\\r\ \\r\ Aesthetically, the magpul hits the mark. Well designed with equal parts form and function. The forend out weighs the oem corncob by far. With a solid and confident grip the possibility of short racking is out of the window. \\r\ \\r\ The M Lok capability offers more possibilities to accessorize the shotgun in ways you may or may not have thought about. After heavy research I added a handstop on the underside and positioned it flush to the rear of the forend. This adds more points of contact w the shotgun. Helps reduce muzzle rise. More importantly it makes it easier to pull off firing and racking the shotgun as one cohesive movement, which prevents short racking. \\r\ Only negative I have is that it's slightly annoying to really secure accessory depending on the quality of the hardware it comes with.\\r\ \\r\ If you have a heatshield be aware that u might have to make perform a few minor modifications. As well if u have one the metal mossberg style heatshields that covers all sides of the barrel it prbly won't work with this forend. My heat-shield is fiber glass and only covers the top half of the barrel. When the magpul forend is installed it's an eighth of inch too tall and scrapes the bottom of the shield. I corrected this by laying it on its side and slid the top of each side carefully against the blade of a table saw. End result took off exactly an eighth inch. I smoothed the cut edges with a clean dremel felt buffer tip. Result, a super clean mod that no longer scrapes the heat-shield. Perfection.\\r\ \\r\ That said would I buy another magpul forend? Hell yeah. Would I recommend it? For sure. Outside, of the classic wood forend it's the only one I'll prbly ever use.\\r\

This forend is a must...
This forend is a must upgrade for your mossberg 500 from the stock forend. It adds much needed grip as well as a platform for accessories like lights, which could be just important as the firearm itself and even handstops.
