This is my 3rd firearm...
This is my 3rd firearm purchase from Bud's, each has been quick and painless. Thanks Bud's. That being said, the Canik 55 TP-9 is a good less expensive platform. The machining is not on par with say Colt, S&W etc, but it doesn't cost $600 plus. Received from my FFL, disassembled, cleaned inspected. Was satisfied with the internals and externals. Lubed and loaded both magazines, took out back to my makeshift test fire facility (hood of Jeep with dirt pile backstop). Ran both mags with commercial FMJ. Not a single hiccup, fired 2 more mags through it with same successful results. Function 5 stars, looks (desert tan because it looked cool) 5 stars, 2 Mec-gar mags and blackhawk knockoff holster, hard case, extra front sights of varying heights and tools, another 5 stars. Thought the odd trigger would be an issue, to the contrary I found the single action trigger set very comfortable, and double action was on par with other striker fire pistols, another 5 stars.The only cons are the decocker is a little stiff and awkward to operate and the previously mentioned machine finishing and the the paddle attachment for the holster sucks (use the belt attachment). Overall the TP-9 is a functioning firearm, that goes boom when the trigger is pulled. Accuracy is on par with other firearms of this class, not a tack driver, but at 20 ft it will group the entire magazine inside of a 32oz gatorade bottle (sights are easy to acquire). Cost, function, 2 mags and addons considered, I have to recommend the gun, for home defense, vehicle defense, field/hunting, and just plain plinking. The desert tan looks cool, the OD green also cool, also comes in Titanium (silver), Black, and silver & black. All come with the mentioned accessories for $300-$360. Don't be put off by the foreign manufacturing, the Turks produce quality modern firearms.
