I am writing this because the reason I pay premiums for things is because I am of the opinion "buy once cry once" but alas this was a complete bust. I purchased a new CMMG Banshee MK10 10mm pistol in November 2025 for around $1,750 expecting premium American-made quality to match the price tag even though ARs for the most part these days are pretty much the same. What I got was a firearm with a Cerakote finish that began showing minor flaws shortly after receipt and completely delaminated during routine annual deep cleaning last week. The failure was dramatic: large sections of Cerakote peeled off the handguard, upper receiver, and other components after a standard ultrasonic cleaning with mild detergent and distilled water — the exact process Cerakote recommends and that CMMG's own literature does not warn against. I've used the same method on multiple other Cerakoted ARs (including my own garage DIY jobs) with zero issues. The pattern screams factory contamination, poor surface prep, or inadequate curing — a clear manufacturing defect in workmanship. When I contacted CMMG customer service with detailed photos, their response was a dismissive "our Lifetime Quality Guarantee does not cover cosmetic wear." They refused to acknowledge this as a defect despite their warranty explicitly covering materials and workmanship issues. No RMA offered, no resolution, just a shrug. For a pistol costing nearly $1,750, this level of finish failure is unacceptable. It now looks worse than many budget builds I've seen. The platform itself shoots well and I like the Banshee design, but the QC and customer service have been a major letdown. This is a real review the recommendations below are included because I told CMMG I would include it if they didn't honor their warranty so enjoy… Strong Recommendation: Skip CMMG and go with Bear Creek Arsenal (BCA) BC-10mm instead. Their 10mm AR pistols and uppers deliver similar blowback functionality at a fraction of the price — currently $399–$525 (often on sale around $400–$480) versus CMMG's $1,700 . I own a BCA guns and have never had an issue with their finish or function. You'll save over $1,200 that can go toward optics, a better suppressor, or professional Cerakote if needed. Plenty of owners report solid performance for the money on budget 10mm ARs. Buy once, cry once — or just buy BCA and save the headache.
