As a point of reference for this review, I am a 50-something non-professional petite female, my weapon of preference is a full size 5" 1911 45acp (9mm a close 2nd).\\r\ I have a collection of purple pistols, so this purple Colt Defender was a no brainer purchase for me. It has all of the 1911 type features that I like, easy trigger, grip safety, easy-enough take down, easy cleaning and fun to shoot at the range. The purple frame is prettier than a photo can capture, it is an eye pleasing metallic looking purple. I probably wouldn't holster/concealed carry it because I wouldn't want to risk marring the purple finish. The slide is steel, therefore it is a rust-risk if not properly cleaned and stored. The shorter Defender length barrel makes for a slightly less-comfortable snappier recoil, it is a 45acp after all, yet the recoil is manageable even for us ladies. I am less accurate with the short Defender length barrel of this pistol when compared to my better groupings with a longer barrel. It cycles flawlessly and eats every cheaper range type ammo that we have fed it. This pistol will definitely still get the job done with 45acp take down power. My husband shoots it & likes it fine, though he is not a fan of the color. I think any lady would enjoy having this gun in her range bag. I would buy this gun again, though it is not my favorite pistol I love it and wouldn't trade it. I give it 4 out of 5 stars because I would prefer a 5" barrel.\\r\ Perfect experience with Bud's as always.

Love this gun. Great buy since it is only one of 200 built. High quality anodization of frame in purple. The gun is beautiful. Have not shot. I'm going to keep it as an investment.Bluing of slide and other components is second to none. A real looker. Buy one while they are still available. I bought two of these in purple, and two of these iwith red anodized frame.all aroung beautiful. Love Colt, and love Bud's.
