Bought one in December...
Bought one in December 2025 for my son and liked it so much that had to have one for myself. Nice fit and finish and should be a great shooter. Some of the features on the Trophy are well worth the extra cost. Between the G10 grips, front and rear checkering, the really sticks in your hand. Although trigger pull is heavy for bullseye shooting, it is crisp with no creep. Extremely happy with this purchase, except for the fact it went up in price $175 since December for the identical gun.

Very happy with this purchase. Bought it for son's USAF Pilot Training graduation present. Hesitated to buy a Colt factory blemished gun but the fact that I was going to have pilot wings engraved on the slide I decided to gamble. The gun came in perfect condition and saved more than enough from Bud's to pay for the engraving.

I was very excited to...
I was very excited to have the opportunity to own a Colt Gold Cup. What a disappointment…the machining is extremely rough with machining marks and sharp edges everywhere. I actually sliced my thumb on the hammer because the edge was so sharp. After cleaning off all the packing oil, the out of the box trigger pull was more than 8-1/2 lbs and extremely gritty. The slide actually hung up on the disconnector because of machining burrs on the slide depression the disconnector fits into. The mag release catch is so rough, you almost have to ram the magazine into the mag well to load it. Brought it to the range in an attempt to put some rounds through it and break it in. The front fiber optic was very dull and pretty much useless…had to replace the fiber. It would not feed anything but round nose ammo without several stoppages per magazine. I took it home and detail stripped it, and the rough machining, burrs, and MIM flashing were on just about every piece I touched. If I could have returned it at that point I would have. I have since polished all the wear surfaces, and worked on the feed ramp in an attempt to get it to feed SWCs, but I'm about ready to give up on that apparent pipe dream. This is supposed to be my Bullseye Competition gun…It was barely functional out of the box! I own five other 1911s and this one is by far the worst. I'll eventually get it tuned to my satisfaction, but I thought the point of paying top dollar for Colt's premiere 1911 pistol was so that wouldn't be necessary. Apparently the Gold Cup Trophy designation means nothing these days. In all honesty, my RIA Ultra ran flawlessly out of the box and cost me $429. Don't waste your money.
