This o1970a1z might...
This o1970a1z might just be the perfect 1911, at least for me. I prefer steel frame 1911s. Check. I prefer blue guns over stainless. Check. I like slides that come with dovetails cut and I am a fan of Novak's 3-dot sights. Check, check. And finally, I wanted to add my first Series 70 to my gun safe. Check. Plus, it has performed flawlessly. I actually like it so much that I sent it back to the Colt Custom Shop for a full Royal Blue refinish, front strap vertical serrations, and a 3.5 lb. CCS trigger job. Just to make my perfect 1911 more perfect--if that's possible. This is a great 1911.

Fourth Colt purchase...
Fourth Colt purchase from Bud's, all went very smooth. Really nice 1911. Fit and finish are great, 600 rounds of FMJ along with Speer and Winchester 230 grain HP have been flawless. Standard GI grip safety rubbed a raw spot on the web of my hand. I did fit it with a Wilson Combat drop in beavertail for Colt Government. Fit was perfect, all it needed was 10 file strokes to fit the blocking leg. I also replaced mainspring housing with a straight Ed Brown part and the thumb safety with a Harrison Design thumb safety (that did require fitting). Now it's a really classy looking 1911. I'm surprised Colt didn't bevel the mag well, as they lowered and flared the ejection port, but in all honesty, it's really not a big deal.
