Special Novak-style sights combine an extra-wide rear notch with a bead front for fast target acquisition in varied lighting. First time buyer from Buds was a pleasant experience. I am fairly new to the 1911 platform so I did a lot of research on this particular handgun. I knew I wanted a "Colt", and I wanted something a bit different so I opted for this "Wiley Clapp" edition. I'm glad I did. When I picked it up from my FFL dealer, it was hefty, good feel, and aesthetically pleasing. Pretty streamlined IMO. This is a gun I'll keep a lifetime. I have not shot it yet but I'm sure I'll only run a few rounds through it to get a good feel. I have dry fired it a few times and I can say it probably has the best best trigger pull of any of my guns. Clean crisp pull with a great reset. I bought the stainless simply because I didn't currently have one. It's truly a work of art, again, IMO. As Mr. Clapp states, " Everything you need and nothin you don't".

The 1911 is one of my favorite firearms. Owning a Colt 1911 in .45 ACP has been a goal of mine for quite some time. This Talo Wiley Clapp SS Commander really caught my eye; having shopped around for several years, I knew this would be a great firearm to own and pass to my kids at some time. The ordering and buying process from Bud's was excellent. Although not in stock, the firearm actually arrived earlier than anticipated. Following the email notice from Bud's, I picked up the gun and brought it home to clean and then found an opportunity to go to the range. I've recently fired 200 rounds through the gun; 4 boxes of 50; each from a different manufacturer. The gun performed flawlessly, and it is a pleasure to shoot. The trigger is crisp with a short and distinct reset, with a 3 lb. 3 oz. pull--sweet! The match-grade barrel is very accurate, to say the least. I try to go to the pistol range once a week, and I look forward to improving my skills and using this Colt 1911 for EDC. It is a real "shooter". Overall, I am very satisfied with this Colt, and proud to own it. The fit and finish are top-notch, and the slide is tight and performs well. The grips and stippling are superb, and fits comfortably and securely in my hand. I'm convinced that Mr. Clapp knew exactly what he was doing when he made these improvements.
