A: Mark, yes Sir. This pistol has 25 LPI Front Strap Checkering.

A: Mark, Yes the 25 line per inch checkering on the front grip strap is standard on the finely made Dan Wesson 1911s.

A: Gwyn, The Valor would be my choice. Both are fantastic pistols and will meet your needs. My choice is based on your future gift as an heirloom. The Valor will be more suited for that purpose in the grand scheme of that and it's value.

A: The Pointman is the top choice of USPSA/IPSC competitive shooters. The Valor wasn't selling well so it was discontinued. It's still a good pistol. Just won't put you at the top of your game.

A: Gwyn, As I responded to your previous question the Pointman would be my choice to shoot or compete with. The Valor if you just want to have a collectible in the safe even though it is a good shooter. Both great firearms.
