The photo is wrong for...
The photo is wrong for most of these Witness P's as of the date of this review. In this case, the photo for 600645 shows a single-action only trigger and magwell, without the accessory rail, which is actually for the 600644 version. This gun works as indicated but the weight given here and on EAA's website is way off; it's about 34 oz unloaded. It's undoubtedly lighter than the all-steel versions, but this is a massive gun that is almost as heavy as an all-steel 1911. The magazine holds 17, not 19 rounds. The DA trigger is very long and very, very heavy. The SA trigger is notchy, gritty, rather heavy, has lots of overtravel and a rather long reset. Hopefully some work will improve it. Tanfoglio's 38 Super chamber is rather loose; while it doesn't seem to affect accuracy, fired cases come out about 0.003" larger than out of a Colt 38 Super chamber, and factory cartridges drop in with room to spare. Whether this reduces case life when reloading is unknown. While specifically outside of EAA's recommendation, 9x23 cases (both new and reloads) drop right into the chamber and arguably fit it better than the slightly narrower 38 Supers for which the gun is chambered. These are, of course, more powerful than factory 38 Super rounds and in theory give a gun like this 17 1 rounds of 357-mag-level power. EAA's manual says that use of handloads or even " P" cartridges voids the warranty, which is odd given that all 38 Super cartridges are designated P to differentiate from the obsolete 38 Auto. Overall the gun is as advertised, a clone of the CZ-75, polymer-framed and able to run full-length (more like CZ-97 sized) 38 Super/10mm/45 ACP cartridges depending on specific chambering. It's kind of expensive for a very basic pistol, but it occupies an unusual niche (double-stack magazine, full length cartridges, hammer-fired.) The next closest alternative would probably be a custom STI 2011 or other wide-body 1911, and those cost three to five times or more what this gun costs (and they weigh a ton.) Also, while not recommended for a pistol with a thumb safety, Blackhawk's Omnivore holster works pretty well with it.
