Very good looking gun....
Very good looking gun. Very tight (TO TIGHT) for in experienced or new 1911 shooters. ( I have 55 years experience with shooting 1911's) My gun came with a lot manufacturing grit on all parts. The firing pin would not retract, the extractor would not always grab the case to be extracted and the slide would not always push the next round into full battery, I would have to nudge it about a 1/4 inch with my thumb, . Some the things you will want to do when you first get it is: Very through cleaning, including removing firing pin and extractor. I had to polish the feed ramp and barrel chamber to get it to feed reliably, polish the barrel part where the barrel link and barrel link pint are attached to the barrel and I polished the firing pin at end where it hits the primer. The first time I took the gun apart, I had to use plastic hammer to get the barrel out of the slide. After doing all the cleanup and polishing, the gun seems to be working great. It is very accurate. I have two Iver Johnson's the Eagle Stainless 10mm and the Eagle XL stainless 10mm. Both guns came in the same condition and both seem to be working great after doing the cleaning and polishing. If you are comfortable doing the minor gunsmith actions I mentioned, I would highly recommend this gun, but if you are not willing to do some through cleaning and minor gunsmith work, you might want to pay the higher price for a gun that comes already cleaned (all the manufacturing grit) and with polished parts. I have 30+ 1911's and this gun is a good deal for experienced 1911 shooters. Recoil is NOT BAD at all due the added weight of stainless and the added inch of barrel, I was going to order the Iver Johnson Eagle XL in 45 ACP as well, but after reading their manual where it says "THE USE OF ANY +P AMMO WILL VOID WARRANTY IN IVER JOHNSON 1911'S, I think I will look for one that will shoot +P ammo and not void the warranty. I do not know any +P ammo for 10mm but they are pretty hot rounds to start out with, especially the Underwood and Buffalo Bore ammo. I really like this gun, but it may not be as good for everyone.
