First the bad news....
First the bad news. Upon receiving this LCP2, I took it to the range and fired 200 fresh rounds of CCI Mini Mags (#0030) through it. I had about 20 rounds that failed to fire, even when I tried to fire them a second and third time. This is most unusual for this brand of 22's. Returned it to Ruger and got it back quickly. They changed the hammer and main spring. Paid $25 in postage. Took it to the range again and got about the same results, 15 rounds failed to fire out of 200. Firing pin strikes seemed hard, but not always in the same spot. Returned it to Ruger a second time. Got it back quickly, they changed the slide assembly. Paid another $25 postage. Just returned from the range. A little better performance at 5 rounds failed to fire out of 200. Got a good run of 50 rounds before misfires began. This is really bad compared to the Ruger SR22 I own which has fired thousands of rounds of CCI Mini Mags with no malfunction whatever. I usually fire 200 rounds in a one hour range session. The good news. This pistol is a hoot to shoot (except for the misfires). It is easy to rack the slide and the little magazine somehow has a 10 round capacity. It is ultra-light even when loaded, fits nicely in my hand and the safety is easy to use as the 1911 safety. It is super easy to clean, with an easy one pin takedown (requires a small pry bar like a micro screwdriver). Magazine comes apart easily, is easy to clean and easy to re-assemble. The sights are intuitive and provide a reliable 5 inch grouping at 10 yards. If necessary, you can get 12 inch grouping at 25 yards and even put a couple of rounds out of a magazine into a man's silhouette target at 50 yards. Recommendation: Do not buy this gun for self defense. It is too unreliable to be used for this purpose. It is a great little plinking gun especially for small or relatively weak shooters. If you need a gun for self defense, I recommend the Ruger SR22.

Order process, shipping and receipt from Buds was all first rate. However, the gun as received did fail to extract about 90% of the time. A call to customer service at Ruger and they sent RMA number and paid label to return for service. Got the gun back a week later and they replaced the barrel and a part or two. Took it to the range and …although much better, there were 3 failures in about 30 rounds. Accuracy was terrible, even at close distances, and the inaccuracy was inconsistent…I.e., the impact pattern was Swiss cheese. Ammo used was CCI mini mags. I like the size and really wanted to like the gun….but, ….alas, not so much. Perhaps it will break in better over time.
