Solid fit and finish...
Solid fit and finish (as you'd expect from Ruger), with a healthy amount of preserving oil out of the box. I mention the amount of oil because my county was hit with a large cyber attack just after I purchased the pistol, and due to Nevada's constitutionally questionable "point of contact" system, I was forced to wait an extra 2 weeks to pick up the gun from my FFL. Rust isn't a major concern in a dry climate with a stainless firearm, but the generous amount of oil was reassuring nonetheless. More importantly, I've fired around 200 rounds of mixed ammunition with no malfunctions. The magazines that ship with the gun are fine, but I've already swapped to a few of my go-to aftermarkets. Sights were effectively dead-on at 10 yards. Thumb safety is nice and tactile. There's a small amount of wobble in the grip safety, but if that bothers you, it's an easy adjustment. Having fired the gun in 95 degree heat with sweaty hands, I can confidently say that the lack of front-checkering doesn't hinder your ability to effectively manipulate the pistol. If you're in the market for high quality, American-made 1911 that won't break the bank and wasn't manufactured in Turkey or the Philippines, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better option. Ruger got it right.
