As of this review, I...
As of this review, I have fired about 500 rounds of 230 gr ball through this gun. Additionally, I have fired 25 rounds of 230 gr Speer Gold Dots through it. The ball ammo functioned flawlessly. In the rare moments I can maintain concentration and properly employ the fundamentals of marksmanship, the gun would hold tight, consistent groups. One of the Gold Dots failed to feed several times. I had to remove the round and rotate it so it would feed. I guess there was a burr or sharp edge on that particular round that the feed ramp just didn't like. I have not yet polished the feed ramp, so that may or may not alleviate any feeding issues with Gold Dots. Have not yet tested any other hollow points.\r \r Not disappointed, but not impressed with the cerakote finish. I expect some wearing over time, especially on the rails, but the internal slide areas are already showing signs of serious wear. There is a small chip in the finish on the accessory rail where the light is mounted.\r \r The slide to frame fit is outstanding - tight with no rattle. The trigger is typical for a 1911, which is to say awesome. Both the slide and trigger are very smooth, no perceived grit or friction.\r \r This is just a personal thing, but I do not care for the aesthetics of the Ruger grips that it came with. I installed some aftermarket plain black G10 grips with more aggressive checkering and it looks much, much better, IMHO. But my tastes in gun aesthetics tend to favor the plainer Spartan, minimalist look.\r \r Functionality is my primary concern so, overall, I am happy that I have this reliable, smooth operating shooter.
