The S&W M&P 9 No...
The S&W M&P 9 No Safety came with the Crimpson Trace Laser. A partnership between S&W and Crimson allows S&W to sell the M&P 9 together with the laser. This is a "Grip" based laser which is different that the other model laser that mounts in front of the trigger guard. It is a far superior implementation as it is truly "integrated in to the gun itself". Because of its design, with the switch on the back strap, it turns On automatically when holding the gun in the Firing position. The M&P 9 is an excellent firearm, it handles very well, is incredibly accurate and is extremely reliable. It comes in a plastic, "briefcase" style box with two mags, external padlock, and instructions. This is the very first time I own a piston without a separate safety (I have owned at least 10 others); while I was concerned about potential risk, I feel comfortable that the true safety is in the trigger itself and, of course, the person handling the firearm. This particular model, which is a 4.25" barrel, is a full size pistol with 17+1 rounds. I recommend it to anyone comfortable with the "different safety" concept and who is looking for a full size reliable 9mm pistol.

Typical great Buds service. I have several M&Ps so love the pistol. Only slight negative is that the batteries that came with it for the Crimson Trace grips were weak. Had to go buy new batteries right away.
