The Smith & Wesson M&P40 Shield is a slim, lightweight semi-automatic pistol designed for comfortable concealed carry. Chambered in .40 S&W, it features a striker-fired action, a single-sided thumb safety, and a short, consistent trigger pull. The pistol has a polymer frame and grip, a stainless steel barrel and slide with a durable Blue/Black finish, and an 18-degree grip angle for a natural point of aim. Its white-dot front sight and white two-dot rear sight provide a clear, conventional sight picture, while the included Crimson Trace Green Laserguard adds an integrated laser aiming option. The package includes two magazines, including an extended magazine for a fuller grip.

Buds is always has...
Buds is always has good inventory, best prices, and fast shipping with tracking numbers, best deal in town. The Smith and Wesson is, in my opinion, the best made. I tend to shoot my 9mm shield because the ammo is a little cheaper but for personal defense, this 40 is dead on and very dependable. The 40 is a little smaller and lighter than the 45 shield so I tend to carry my 40 or the 9mm shield more than the 45 shield. If you want something a little bigger than a 9mm but a little smaller in gun size and lighter than a 45 than the 40 shield is a good compromise.

First time shopping...
First time shopping with buds (or any online FFL for that matter) and have to admit that I enjoyed the process. Bought the Shield 40 with CT Green Laserguard at a GREAT price AND with 180 day layaway. Not sure I would have bought it if those two factors weren't a part of it. Had several questions for Buds because there was no description or stock picture in the advertisement. Does it have the manual safety? (Yes). The title says 4.25 -is this the Shield or original M&P? Shield barrel length is 3.1 and the M&P is 4.25. They answered all of my questions promptly and all was to my liking, so I jumped on the deal. Buds was great at communicating the next step in the process. I was very anxious to get my hand on this gun. Bought the Pearce pinky extension for the 6 round mag and installed it right away. Made the final payment on Friday (8/21), it left Buds via UPS on Tuesday (8/25) and arrived the next day (8/26) (KY to IN). The FFL that I picked it up from said they couldn't even get close to matching the price Buds had. All in all a great process and experience with Buds. Gun is better than expected. Phenomenal quality and feels great in my hand. Never carried with a laser before, but I look forward to it being with the Shield 40. Long trigger pull as expected, but after a few hundred rounds it's not near as bad -though I still may buy an Apex replacement. Will probably buy again from their 180 layaway section.
