I purchased my .45 M1911A1 GI OD model two years ago and I love it. My springfield shoots better than the Government GI I carried in the infantry. An outstanding weapon at a great price--and you get to own a little piece of history along with it. The OD green is a nice touch although it may not be big with the purist...

I like wise was introduced to the military 45 caliber handgun in advanced training at Fort Knox. It's standard issue for scouts in Armor Reconnaissance. I haven't fired one for 40 years. But, I look forward to reliving some of my shooting military experiences and will own one when I get lucky and find one. I have the Springfield XD 45 and it's a fantastic handgun and a joy to shoot. I understand the heavier 1911 style handgun is even better. I have friends with the 1911 style Springfield and swear by them. I'll be a buyer someday. The Taurus model 1911B-BHW is also a great 45 caliber handgun with more features and better warranty than the Springfield Armory product at about the same price. But, you can't find it either. If I didn't want one they would show up all over the place.

This pistol is a sweeheart , i first handled this pistol in bootcamp in the navy in 1980 , became a marksman with it , about 3 years ago i purchased it again , and out of all the handguns i own which is about 12 , everytime i pick it up i rip a target, the only gripe i have had about it is , that is is picky about the ammo , it doesnt like re-loads , but many pistols dont , i plan on it being the first gun my son uses don b.
