The Springfield Armory 1911 Range Officer Compact is a carry-oriented single-action pistol chambered in .45 ACP. Its forged aluminum alloy frame helps reduce weight, while the forged carbon steel slide provides durable service performance. The four-inch stainless steel match-grade bull barrel uses a fully supported ramp, and the dual recoil spring with full-length guide rod supports reliable cycling. A fiber optic front sight pairs with a low-profile combat rear sight for fast target acquisition. Rosewood grips, a manual thumb safety, and a beavertail grip safety complete the classic 1911 configuration.

I decided on the...
I decided on the Springfield RO Compact after considerable research. Yes, I also considered the Colt Commander, Colt Defender, the Ruger 1911 CMD, et al. The Springfield RO Compact simply has more of the features I considered to be important in a smaller sized 1911. The match grade SS bull barrel, fully supported feed ramp, high contrast sights (with fiberoptic front sight) in a slightly smaller 1911 package that is more convenient for EDC. I have purchased some Tripp Research 7 round flush-fitting magazines to give me a 7+1 capacity in an Officers sized 1911. The trigger is absolutely exquisite and the Springfield RO Compact may be the most accurate handgun I own. I have large hands (8 1/2 gloves) and I find it easy to grip and shoot. It carries well in a N82 holster. Hickok45's two part review was also instrumental in helping me make this decision. This was my sixth gun purchase from Buds and, as usual, the whole process was swift and very efficient. I have nothing but praise for their business model,

I received the springfield 1911 range officer compact 45 and i could not be happier with the gun. When i hold it it fells like a quality piece and fits great in the hand. Its also a very nice shooter for a .45 I am very happy with my purchase. Also buds gun shop is awsome i love the layaway program they have that is the only reason i was able to afford my firearm.
