A: No doubt about it the .380 is better than the 22Mag

A: Ben - Certainly the .380 is superior to the 22 mag for self defense. But the "best" for your wife is whatever she feels more comfortable with. Let her try both a revolver and one or two of the excellent .380 semi-autos on the market. Check the Springfield 380 EZ model, especially. If she is more comfortable with a small semi auto pistol, then she will actually carry it. If she has a revolver that she doesn't particularly like, just because you or someone else think that's what she SHOULD use ... then she won;t carry it and you;ve defeated the whole purpose of arming her. Give her a chance to choose - and let her decide, after trying a few for herself. Let her soot a 9mm pistol even - like a S&W shield. These gals are much smarter than many give them credit for .. and she will carry something she likes ... which is , I assume, the reason you are buying her a firearm - self-defense.

A: Hi Shannondoah and welcome. It is much thinner than the Taurus 856. The 380 Pitbull weighs 26 oz. and the overall length is 7.6″. The height is 5″ and width at the cylinder is 1.03″. Barrel length is 3″ and the cylinder holds six rounds. The Taurus 856 is 1.41 inches wide at the cylinder. Cheers and stay safe!

A: Hi Phil, from the Charter Arms FAQ pager - " Can I shoot +P in my .38 revolver? Charter .38's are among the smallest revolvers in this caliber. Yes they can handle +P but we do not recommend it for the following reasons: +P ammo requires a four-inch minimum barrel to burn the extra powder. Therefore, in a two-inch barrel the extra powder is burned after the bullet leaves the barrel creating more recoil and making it harder to come back to target. We recommend a standard velocity load and practice with round nose lead rounds which are the least expensive. When you load for protection, use a jacketed or hollow point in the same grain you practice with." Stay safe & have a great day!
