Description
Product Overview
The Chiappa Rhino 60DS is a six-inch .357 Mag revolver designed for controlled target shooting and versatile field use. Its patented low-bore-axis design places the barrel in line with the bottom chamber, lowering the center of gravity and helping reduce muzzle rise and felt recoil. The flat-sided cylinder gives the revolver a slimmer profile, while the Blue/Black finish and wood grips provide a classic appearance and a comfortable, secure hold. Night sights support faster target acquisition in reduced-light conditions.

I purchased this...
I purchased this weapon a few weeks ago after selling my AR 15. I needed a weapon open carry/home defense purposes and have been watching the progression of the Rhino since its introduction in 2009. When the weapon first went into production it had some issues with reliability. People reported breakages, light strikes on primers, issues with the finish of steel components, and other lesser issues like the weight of the double action trigger. After waiting for 6 years and keeping up with Chiappa's improvements in production I decided that now was the time for me to make my purchase of the Rhino. I decided on this version of the 60DS for a few reasons. 1. A 6 inch handgun will be more accurate overall. Especially with the inherent design characteristics of the Rhino. 2. The size and design of the weapon is very intimidating and it is something I look for in self defense weapons. Not that any firearm looks "friendly" but some are "less friendly" than others. 3. Being a fan of the Ma.Te.Ba family of weapons built by Emilio Ghisoni, this was my chance to own a weapon originally designed by Ghisoni without spending 2000 bucks on a Mateba Unica 6 Autorevolver. 4. Reliability. On the last point, since purchasing this weapon and conducting its initial cleaning, I have put close to 400 rounds of .38 special, and just under 300 rounds of .357 magnum down the pipe. I have had zero issues with the loading and unloading of this weapon. Zero issues firing it, using the single action cocking lever, the trigger, or extracting and closing the cylinder. Over all this has been a solid weapon. Selling my AR for finance this purchase was one of the best decisions I ever made as far as firearms are concerned. I wholly recommend purchasing this weapon, especially from Buds. There are two issues that potential buyers should be aware of and is covered by Buds in their FAQ section. This weapon will show up to your FFL dirty. Chiappa test fires a full cylinder of .357 Mag in every weapon, and they do NOT clean them afterward. The cosmoline used as packing grease in this weapon is very sticky and will require breakfree to remove completely. That said, the internal mechanical parts are NOT coated in packing grease, only the exterior of the weapon is.
