Description
Product Overview
The Cimarron Model No. 3 1st Model American is a historically styled single-action revolver modeled after the Smith and Wesson Model No. 3 American. Its top-break design allows the barrel and cylinder assembly to hinge downward for efficient loading, while the automatic extractor helps remove spent cases. Chambered in .45 Colt, this six-shot revolver features an 8-inch barrel, fixed sights, a black finish, and wood grips. It is suited to collectors, historical shooting enthusiasts, and shooters who appreciate classic late-19th-century revolver designs.

Great historical repro...
Great historical repro that pre-dates the Colt SAA by 3 years. Yes it's in 45 Colt (not period correct), but it can masquerade as a 44 S&W or 44 Henry (like my Henry rifle). It should be noted that the barrel is an inch longer and frame slightly larger than the No.3 Schofield, making holster finding difficult. It does fit into my Dragoon open toe holster. As noted in another review, the finish is easily scratched giving a well used look sooner than it should. Pictured with the Schofield (bottom weapon).

What a disappointment....
What a disappointment. I bought this because it said it was a Schofield. It is NOT. It is a #3 American, 1st Model (says so on the box). It does not have the improved Schofield latch. In fact, the latch it has is very stiff and takes a great amount of effort to open the pistol. There will be no rapid reloads with this thing.

I am not going to do a...
I am not going to do a long review as the one below but I just received this very well made Cimarron Model No.3 American and took out for some shooting. It has a fantastic finish and very well fitted and it shoots on the money at 25 yards, The trigger pull is crisp at about 4 lbs and the break open works very well. I have fired around 100 rounds with no problem and no problem with cylinder scaring or marks. This is a well made by Uberti for Cimarron and they made sure it is true to the original as possible. Don't let a bad review stop you from getting this great piece of shooting history. This has the U.S. marking on top of barrel along with the original style patent dates and just can't find any faults with this pistol. Waited a long time for a American model not the Schofield version, simple, you will not be disappointed with this one at all :)
