The Diamondback SDR is a compact double-action revolver chambered for .357 Mag and .38 Special +P. Its six-shot cylinder, 2-inch stainless steel barrel, and forged stainless steel frame create a durable package suited to concealed carry and personal defense. The Black Nitride+ finish provides a durable, low-profile exterior, while the rounded frame and concealed hardware help reduce snagging during the draw. An orange front fiber optic sight and green rear fiber optic sight provide high-visibility alignment, and the black Hogue rubber grip supports a secure hold. For about two months...
For about two months straight, I was looking for an answer to my carry needs. I have so many accessories and grips for my 642 Pro Series and I felt I would've been spending even more money than I need to in order to swap grips out or use a specific holster. My search was for something in the same size as a J frame but chambered for .357 Magnum, which led me from the S&W 640 Pro Series, which had better sights than the 642, but I wanted that 6-shot capacity a Kimber K6S. I felt hopeless in my search for what I considered to be the perfect carry revolver, and then I suddenly saw the Diamondback SDR, which I had remembered seeing pop up at SHOT Show 2024. It accepts most of my J frame pattern grips. However, if you are planning to install VZ grips, just know that it will fit fine but the screw will not be able to make it past the frame of the revolver. Recoil is a bit stout with .357 Mag, but what can you expect out of the lightest, smallest, steel 6-shot revolver on the market? I absolutely love this revolver and I'm glad I snatched up the Black Nitride version before it went out of stock on here.
