This thing is as good...
This thing is as good as any so called ''Factory tuned'' action I have seen. Fitted well from the checkered grips, case hardening, and the bluing. No cylinder/bolt rub and a slick 2.5 lb trigger pull.

I am a cowboy action...
I am a cowboy action shooter and wanted Colt pattern revolvers as my second pair of wheelguns (I have been shooting Ruger New Vaqueros for 12 years). SASS rules require us to load the revolver with five rounds, hammer down on an empty chamber so the "passive safeties" that are added on to older designs are not really needed in a match revolver. I have been looking for this exact configuration (EMF Great Western 2 Deluxe Californian in .45 Colt with 4.75" barrel, blue finish with checkered walnut grips) for over a year and finally found them at Buds. Just to cover what appear to be FAQs about this and similar revolvers, this is a "four click" action. Pietta has some features that I prefer to Uberti's 1873 pattern revolvers. The action was pretty smooth out of the box and the fit and finish of the revolvers is very good. I used them for three stages in a local match and they performed well. The only feature I don't care for is the two position base pin that comes standard on Uberti and Pietta revolvers, and the Pietta base pins have a notch that must be aligned with the base pin catch. An easy fix; I ordered Uberti "no safety" one position base pins and installed them. The variant that I chose is one of a couple of EMF revolvers that are available. Mechanically they are pretty much the same and some are a real bargain. I have no hesitation recommending Pietta cartridge revolvers. EMF is now owed by Pietta and is supposed to be renamed "Pietta USA". At one point EMF was doing warranty repairs for Pietta revolvers imported by other companies. EMF knows these revolvers inside and out.
