Both the .38 and .357 can be loaded with the same "bullets". Any guns labeled .357 Magnum can safely fire any .38 Special load from standard target loads to +P or even +P+ law enforcement loads. But you cannot fire .357 Magnums in guns intended and labeled .38 Special … the case length would be too long.

A: Hi Andre and welcome. Depends on what your shooting needs are. 1 inch of barrel length in .357 equals on average 50 fps to 80 fps depending on the load. Not a terribly lot in a magnum revolver but the extra ft-lbs of energy may make the difference. Cheers and stay safe!
