The Ruger GP100 Match Champion is a competition-focused double-action revolver built around Ruger's durable stainless-steel GP100 platform. Chambered in .357 Mag, it holds six rounds and uses a contoured cylinder, a slab-sided 4.2-inch barrel, and a target crown for balanced handling and consistent accuracy. A fiber optic front sight pairs with an adjustable rear sight for fast sight acquisition and precise elevation and windage corrections. The Hogue hardwood grip features stippled sides for a secure hold, while Ruger's patented grip frame accommodates a wide variety of aftermarket grips. Its triple-locking cylinder supports dependable alignment, and the transfer bar mechanism provides protection against accidental discharge when the revolver is handled properly. When I finally decided...
When I finally decided I need at least one wheelgun within my small cluster of semi-auto's, I decided early on that a Ruger would scratch my itch (at my cost target). Then, I figured since I was new to revolvers, I might as well get one in the Ruger line that's at least a little bit upgraded (i.e. hopefully smoother trigger, etc.) because it may be the only revolver I'll ever own (I was wrong about 1 being enough to satisfy my revolver itch). I have been very satisfied so far with the fit and finish, as well as the very comfortable performance. To me, the gun has a very balanced feel, as far as the weight distribution. Have put about 450 rounds of a mixture of light .38 Sp target loads and heavier .357 mag loads through it so far, and have enjoyed every shot. Accuracy getting better as I practice my DA pull. I have fully disassembled to inspect internal trigger parts, and have NOT had any of the roughness or hanging shards or burrs of metal mentioned on some forums (pertaining to some Ruger products), so I suspect they did indeed do some polishing at the factory, as advertised on this model.The Hogue wood grip is nice in hand, but my only slightly negative comment is that the grip/gun combo does NOT play well with the 3 brands of speedloaders I've tried so far (Safariland Comp II's, Pachmayr Competition, and HKS)...grip interferes with speedloader, making them virtually useless. I have since change out the grip to Altamonts with some custom inserts, and seems to interfere less with speedloaders, and also seems to absorb slightly more kick. Couldn't be happier with the gun and Bud's.

First, as always,...
First, as always, dealing with Bud's (Lexington KY) was great. Now, on to the GP-100...This is an excellent revolver! But that is what I have come to expect from Ruger. Every revolver I have purchased of theirs, and there have been many, have been smooth, accurate and utterly reliable. The GP-100 Match action is even more so. It compares favorably with my "old model" stainless Python and my older S&W large frame revolvers. If we are ever restricted to only carrying wheel guns, this will be my EDC. Well done Ruger, and thank you Bud's!
