Well, it was decided to introduce a larger framed gun, in 44 magnum, and since they "beefed it up",, it was named the "Super Blackhawk." Then in 1962-1963, (transition period,) they dropped the midframed guns, and all the mainframes became the same size. That was the end of the original Flattop era.
