Well, it was decided to introduce a larger framed gun, in 44 magnum, and since they "beefed it up",, it was named the "Super Blackhawk." Then in 1962-1963, (transition period,) they dropped the midframed guns, and all the mainframes became the same size. That was the end of the original Flattop era. But the name stuck for the 44 magnum.
