A: Dennis, For self defense this revolver should be fired using double action. The double action trigger pull is a safe, heavy pull of over 12 lbs. Very light single action after first DA shot. Every revolver is slightly different, but SA is 3 lbs or less.

A: No, .357 is much more powerful and not safe to fire in a .38 Special revolver. The other way around works however, .357 revolvers can easily handle .38 Special pressure levels.

A: No, 38sp +p is still a lower pressure round than the .357, so it would not be safe to fire that in this revolver. In addition to that, the cylinder is made to use 38sp, not the longer .357 which would most likely be too long to fit properly.

A: Joe, no Sir. The 357 Magnum shell is too long to chamber in a 38 Special revolver. However, you can fire 38 Special out of a 357 Magnum revolver.

A: I'm guessing this refers to the built-in key lock on many S&W revolvers. Basically, it's a simple mechanism that interfaces with the hammer when engaged (via a small hand-cuff looking key) prevents you from firing while in the locked position. A state-mandated solution to a problem that isn't real, but here we are. Having deleted these in the past, I can also tell you that they're incredibly brittle and not a real safety solution at all...
