The Taurus Raging Hunter is a powerful .44 Remington Mag double-action revolver designed for short- to medium-range hunting and field use. Its 5.125-inch angular barrel helps reduce weight, while factory-tuned porting and a gas expansion chamber work together to reduce muzzle rise and support faster follow-up shots. A fiber optic front sight and adjustable rear sight aid target acquisition, and the cushioned rubber grips provide a secure, comfortable hold during recoil. I see why this...
I see why this thingvwon Handgun of the Year! It is a BEAST. With only 200 full magnum rounds and 100 .44 spl rounds so far, its a pussycat in your hand if you know what youre doing. The ported barrel really tames the recoil on those hot Buffalo Bore loads. The only ding I give is the plain dull sights are difficult to see in any lighting conditions. A new Trijicon front sight on order. The only change I made was to get rid of the black spongy grips and install a set of robust MPT grips. Your mileage may vary. I am confident with this thing in bear country. Its a keeper.

I recently picked up...
I recently picked up another Taurus revolver in 357 and was very impressed with its performance so I wanted to go up a level and try the raging hunter in 44 mag. I felt that the price was very fair and the selection from Buds on the different RH 44 revolvers is excellent. I went with the 5 inch model for versatility. So far I am just as impressed with this Taurus as I am the other. This thing is an absolute blast to shoot. I put 50 rounds of Fiocchi 240 grain SJHP down range without issue. Accuracy is incredible and recoil is very manageable. The porting and sheer size no doubt help but add that to proper body mechanics and technique and it is very controllable. It kicks but it doesn't hurt. The double action trigger is so smooth. Easily the best out of the box double action revolver trigger I have felt. Single is a tad heavy though but still good. Only downside I can think of is the front sight being black instead of a bright color could make using irons in low light conditions hard. Nothing some paint can't fix though. I have not mounted a red dot on it yet but I may before taking it hunting. Next on my list to try is the 460 S&W Raging Hunter.
