The revolver is made...
The revolver is made by Uberti. As I received it, it came with their new "retractable firing pin" safety. In a nutshell, this means the traditional, Colt-style lock work has been significantly modified to allow the gun to be safely carried with all six chambers loaded. Traditional Colt SAAs have four distinct clicks when you cock them. The new Uberti system does away with the traditional safety notch (first click), so this gun is really a "three clicker". Other than that, the rest of the lock work is the same as a Colt. I'm not going into detail describing how the new safety system works - you can find that on Taylor or Uberti's websites. It's not that the new system just sounds different, it also feels different. In short, it does not feel like a traditional Colt-style SAA when you cock it. And that, I do not care for. If that is not important to you, then you'll probably be fine with this revolver. It is well made, the quality of fit and finish being very good, as is typical of recent production Uberti guns. It shoots a several inches low at cowboy action shooting distances but the front sight can be filed down to raise POI which was well centered, just low. If having Colt-style lock work and feel is not important to you or the ability of this gun to safely carry 6 rounds as opposed to 5 is more important, you'll like this gun. If you want a traditional SAA you may be disappointed. It's all a matter of personal preference. The quality of the gun is very good, just no what I was looking for, mechanics-wise.

I love shopping Buds...
I love shopping Buds Guns! Purchasing is always easy, they ship my purchase extremely fast and always update me with informative E-mails through the whole process. As for the Runnin Iron, I could not be happier. This a well balanced, quick handling little revolver (3.5 inch barrel) yet still reasonably accurate. I did not get the deluxe version and therefore had to change out the springs with Wolff springs and do some polishing of my own in order to get the smooth action I wanted. If you are not comfortable doing action work yourself or don't want to pay a gunsmith to slick it up then I recommend getting the deluxe version. I give it a 4 only because the state of the gritty and heavy factory action. Every other aspect of the revolver is awesome!
