The Uberti 1873 Cattleman El Patron CMS is a hand-tuned single-action revolver chambered in .357 Mag and configured for Cowboy Mounted Shooter competition. Its 3.5-inch barrel and lower-profile hammer support quick handling and one-handed cocking, while the full-size frame delivers the familiar balance of a classic 1873-style revolver. A fluted 6-shot cylinder, numbered cylinder, U.S.-made Wolff springs, and carefully fitted action contribute to smooth, dependable operation. Though I've shot them...
Though I've shot them before, this is my first purchase of a SAA firearm. I'm purchased this (in .357mag) because I've always wanted this type of firearm, but I'm not into CMS, Cowboy Action Shooting, or any other type of competion shooting. Both I and my recieving FFL were very impressed with this pistol. It was heavy, well finished, and had a nice balance. A quick cleaning and a trip to the range revealed it is a fine shooter, very smooth action and very accurate. Prior to recieving the gun I did a bit of searching online for a non-western type holster, and found there are very few options for the 3.5" barrel. Once I recieved the gun, I found my Triple K 196-1 holster for my S&W Model 10 fits it perfectly. The holster is a tiny bit loose on the Model 10, but snug on the El Patron and a new one should break in nicely. I'm no expert on SAA firearms, but I promise you won't go wrong with this one.
