Magpul is very popular, but lancer, C-Products, Amend2, Thermold, ETS or Promag will fit and function. I stay away from certain brands. Magpul is probably the gold standard in AR 15 magazines. A: Allen, Yes .223 Remington will work fine in this sporting rifle. 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington are exact same dimension. And the chamber pressure is about 10,000 PSI less in the .223 then 5.56. So in a 5.56 sporting rifle .223 will be no problem

A: .223 will work in a .556 with no issues, this barell is rated for .556 (which is a higher pressure round) so it will handle the .223 with no problems.
