I haven't had this...
I haven't had this rifle long but I've shot it quite a bit. I already had a Browning Eclipse Varmint in 22-250 so I was already familiar with this rifle line. I got this one in a .300 Winchester Magnum to relegate a 43 year old one to backup status. I really like this rifle. If you're not familiar with a thumbhole stock, it may take a little getting used to but once I did, I came to really like it. It puts the wrist in a more natural position. I find this rifle really points well for me and it's well balanced for off hand shooting. I'm well used to the recoil of a 300 Win Mag and it doesn't bother me but the muzzle break on the Hunter (along with the thumbhole stock) greatly reduces the felt recoil. It does make it loud of course. This rifle is LONG. The barrel is 26 inches long plus the muzzle break making for a full length of 28 inches. Great out in open elk country. It would be awkward in a 4 X 4 foot box blind. It's 48.5". I really like the location of the tang safety and the button on the bolt that allows the bolt to open with the safety on. I like the detachable magazine but when first shooting it, the magazine was sticking not allowing the 2nd or 3rd cartridge to come up to the feed position. On a hunch I backed off on the assembly screw on the back of the magazine half a turn and that completely solved the problem. Note that a spare 300 Win Mag and the original and spare 22-250 magazines did not do this.
