I bought this when...
I bought this when they were on sale for $1309 and I could not pass up on the price.\\r\ \\r\ I have since put 400 rounds through it on a couple of different outings, the first 50 rounds I was very gentle trying to break in the barrel gently. I love shooting the gun and the way the gun looks. I also think the lower design is the best on the market with best in class ergonomics and an excellent Geissle trigger.\\r\ \\r\ But there are some serious issues with these guns. Theses are made in the Huntsville AL facility which is known for poor quality control and overall quality issues. This gun that I own is no exception. The gun is Viciously over-gassed, with federal bulk packed .223 (middle of the road speed) it is ejecting at 12:30-1:00, with Tula (low pressure) it is ejecting at around 1:30, I have heard that others have had rounds eject directly back into the chamber with hotter loads but I have not been able to test this yet but mine is still terrible over-gassed. \\r\ \\r\ Next issue, the gas black wiggles... no joke, it is not pinned correctly. there is a nasty amount of carbon built up on top of the barrel around the gas block due to the gas leakage. the amount of gas in the system caused the gun to feel like it was running on sandpaper and the charging handle could hold back the bolt just with the extra grit and grime dumped in the upper section of the handguard. needless to say everything was stripped, cleaned, and oiled before putting the gun back together.\\r\ \\r\ it should also be noted that the gas actuator that switches between suppressed and unsupressed was so gummed up that I had to pry it out. Last bad thing is the AAC flash hider is a terrible muzzle device unless you own a AAC suppressor and intend to use it as a suppressor mount. the tuning fork sound is horrible and drones on for 15 seconds after every shot. It is also attached via Rock-set which will not come out with a normal amount of force.\\r\ \\r\ The quick swap barrel system does work as advertised and mine will hold fairly close to zero after taking the barrel out and reinstalling it. mine is also not suffering from the loose barrel that can affect other ACR rifles.\\r\ \\r\ overall there is a lot of work that I have to do to this rifle to get it into great usable shape. I am very nostalgic to the ACR which is why I bought it. if you love the ACR than you will probably love this. But, if you are anyone else, spend your money on better guns.
