A: Hi Andrew 7mm-08 is actually a 308 case lengthened and necked down to 7mm. It is considered a "Long Action" same as the 30-06.

A: Andrew, the 7mm-08 is a necked down .308 but not lengthened, however both are considered short action cartridges. The 7mm are long action. Short actions have an COAL of 2.8" or less and Long actions are 3.34" or less.
