Bought this rifle for...
Bought this rifle for cowboy competition. The rifle was in need of a good cleaning and lubrication before shooting, which I always do before firing. But the rifle was very rough in cycling rounds. I put alot of the lubricate but it still cycled rough. Apparently, these rifles come set up with a .45 long colt spring and tube, so when you load .357/.38 Specials the bullets load at an angle. However, I listened to other competitors who recommended putting a .357 bullet alignment kit (tube and spring) for 20" inch barrell. Totally different gun! Shot very well this past Sunday. It will cost you $70 for the tube kit w spring, so be prepared to buy it when you purchase this rifle in .357/.38 Specials. P.s. I am not shooting competition for speed. I compete against myself, could care less what anybody else thinks or says about me. However, it was nice to hear positive comments about my rifle making it through a stage without malfunctioning.

Ordered and received a very beautiful and expensive rifle. Bud's transaction was flawless as usual. The rifle is much, much heavier than I expected. The wood is a brownish-red, very attractive. Color case-hardening is exquisite. I removed the semi-Buckhorn and replaced it with a Marble's Bullseye rear sight. Now I can hit a dime at 50 yards. The action smoothed up after 20 rounds of 357 magnum. Did I mention that 20-inch octagonal barrel is really heavy?

Real nice quality. Good fit and finish. It is very heavy having a heavy untapered octagon barrel. Heavy heavy. I want the carbine version but it seems like there is a never ending (years) time for getting one of those in 357.
