Been eager to get my...
Been eager to get my hands on an 18-inch barreled lever rifle for quite some time. Every time I spotted one online I hesitated for a day or two, then poof! Gone. I finally nabbed the U.S. Marshal in .357 mag. with an 18-inch barrel. The barrel is round, which is nice & light compared to those cool-looking, but very heavy octagonal barrels. The wood grain stock was not as nice as I wanted it to be considering the high price I paid, but the finish was top-notch, as was the black metal receiver & barrel. The lever, trigger and hammer are case-color hardened - a unique and nice touch. The rifle has a shortened buttstock that I couldn't get used to so I added a leather recoil pad to gain an inch of pull, replaced the barrel band front sight with a gold bead speed sight, swapped out the buckhorn rear sight for a Skinner barrel-mounted peep sight, and lastly replaced the super-stiff loading gate with a Shotgun Boogie gate that makes loading smooth and pain-free. The rifle is very accurate out to 75 yards with .357 mag ammo (that's all the farther I shot). Shoots .38 specials without a hiccup too. I'm very pleased with this accurate beauty that gets lots of looks when I'm out shooting it and it will remain with me for the rest of my life. Happy shootin'!
