Very happy with my...
Very happy with my Cimarron / Uberti 1873 Short Rifle. My particular specimen has above average case colors and wood grain. I know it was just luck, but it's a good looking gun. Action was fairly smooth right out of the box. A couple of hours dry stroking it with toothpaste made it even smoother. Next will be lightening the springs, as apparently all manufacturers these days use the springs off a '53 Buick to operate their guns with. Only real user complaint is the front sight, which is a blued steel post sans bead. May be (?) historically accurate, but it's might near impossible to see unless your aiming at buzzards. Replaced it immediately with an ivory beaded Marbles front sight. ( .370" tall , .531" wide, 1/16" bead , $12.99 from Midway.) Honestly, I was going to buy a used one, but these rifles are holding their value enough that new isn't that much more than used ones are bringing. Anyway, as stated at the beginning, I'm pretty happy with mine.
