I bought this gun as...
I bought this gun as the base for a DMR type rifle, and so far so good. The barrel is thicker than a normal M4 profile and being 18" definitely gives the little .223 some much needed velocity, certainly more than a 16" AR would have. The trigger guard is a little lose and the safety is a little stiff, but the finish, handrail and accuracy are great, and those things that actually matter. Buds made buying this rifle easy and they offered it at a great price, so if you have an FFL near you and want a quality AR without the premium price, the CMMG MK4 S is for you.

I decided to purchase...
I decided to purchase an MK4 S on a hunch. Though before I purchased the rifle, I did my research and read a couple reviews on the rifle. These reviews were from reputable sources, but I found that the reviewers must not have been great shots. They claimed that the rifle was only able achieve a 1.5 MOA group at 100 yrds. I thought this was absolute rubbish. Judging from the barrel alone (18" SS straight taper w/ 1-7 twist) a proficient shooter should be able to achieve 1 MOA. At 200 yards without a spotter (or even a spotting scope) I was able to pull the rifle down to sub MOA. This was done with Winchester 69grain MatchKing ammunition. We were not able to count the last group as it was only a 2-shot group (last 2 bullets) but wanted to mention they were touching at 200 yrds. Which if we had a 3rd shot do the same would have been a 3/8 group at 200. Do NOT hesitate to purchase this rifle. I only wish I had the filming equipment to record the review so others could benefit. I will be taking my MK4 S to 300 yrds to qualify later this year as it is a great shooter. Just wanted to let you know your work is appreciated and to "keep on, keeping on."
