I purchased this rifle...
I purchased this rifle about one month ago because I was familiar with this manufacturer having already purchased a Stevens 334 in .243 Winchester. Both rifles are made in Turkey by ATA Arms. The quality of both rifles is excellent except the Turqua comes with a user adjustable trigger whereas the Stevens 334 does not. The trigger pull on the Stevens 334 was quite heavy breaking at about 8 pounds on my RCBS trigger gauge. The adjustment on the Turqua allowed a quick setting of trigger pull to about 2 pounds. Vastly superior to a range shooter like myself. With the right ammunition, both rifles were capable of delivering one half inch groups at one hundred yards. In other words, excellent accuracy. The Turqua comes with a 24 inch threaded barrel which I would put on the medium to heavy side compared to say a Weatherby Vanguard which has a very light, thin barrel. I was impressed by the Turqua's barrel's heft which allowed it to shoot more rounds before needing a rest due to overheating. The camo synthetic stock on the Turqua is quite good and came with an adjustable cheek rest. Again, I was impressed. The stock also comes with black rubber inserts at appropriate places for you hands making the rifle more "grippy". This was a very good and thoughtful addition. Lastly, the Turqua comes with both a five shot and a three shot magazines in the box. Both magazines insert easily and feed flawlessly. Lastly, I would note that the trigger group on the Turqua can be removed and substituted into the Stevens 334. The two trigger groups are identical except some of the components have been modified in the Stevens 334 trigger group to increase the pull weight and defeat the user adjustability feature on the Turqua's trigger group. Why Savage specified these changes for the Stevens 334, which they import into the U.S., is unknown to me and they refuse to answer my questions about it. In summary, the Turqua is a fantastic rifle. I would advise buying one quickly if your are interested because the current importer, Four Peaks, has dropped the line and these rifles may be disappearing from the U.S. market unless another importer picks up the line for import into the U.S.
